La Aldea: A Serene Sanctuary in the Heart of Nature

Combining Heritage and Tranquility with Stunning Views and a Touch of Contemporary Design

La Aldea is a beautifully restored Colombian farmhouse that harmoniously blends history with contemporary design. The original façade was carefully preserved to maintain the home’s authenticity, while the interior was thoughtfully renovated to create a seamless connection with nature. Warm wood tones and a neutral color palette, accented with strategic pops of color, bring a sense of comfort and balance to the space. Expansive windows were introduced to frame the breathtaking views of the surrounding forest and village, allowing natural light to flood the rooms and invite the outdoors in. Many of the decorative elements, such as carpets, bed frames, and nightstands, were crafted by local artisans, celebrating the region’s rich craftsmanship. Leather, a material with deep legacy and expertise in the area, was prominently featured throughout, subtly elevating the design while honoring local tradition. Additionally, several pieces were sourced from antique shops, paying homage to the history and timeless beauty of the past. The tranquil sounds of a nearby stream, which feeds into a peaceful lake, add an element of serenity and nostalgia, making this home a true retreat.

As a personal touch, Carolina Quezada commissioned a one-of-a-kind dining table crafted from a tree trunk sourced along the nearby road, adding a raw, natural element to the design that connects the home deeply to its surroundings. Carolina’s mission was to honor the past while creating a space where time feels suspended—a serene retreat where the integrity of tradition and the richness of culture coexist with a calming sense of modernity. Every detail was thoughtfully curated to allow the past, present, and future to merge effortlessly.
